Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative vice president of agriculture Todd Geselius says harvest is about 70 percent complete, with producers having harvested about 2 million tons of sugarbeets.

“The crop has pretty much any issue you can think of this year, including root rot issues, because of the wet conditions,” says Geselius. “There was also lots of Cercospora because of the wet conditions. A difficult year on the weather.”

The cooperative is predicting an average yield, more than 20 tons per acre.
