Good news for sugar beet producers in southern Alberta and workers at a processing plant in Taber: Rogers Sugar says it has reached a deal with Alberta Sugar Beet Growers to extend an agreement to process crops in 2019 and 2020.
The Taber facility employs 135 people full time and another 240 seasonal workers.
The plant can produce more than 100,000 tonnes of sugar per year.
