An ag industry executive says the public-private partnership between DuPont Pioneer and Purdue University’s College of Ag announced Thursday will shape the future of ag research.

Jerry Flint, a vice president with DuPont Pioneer, says innovation and collaboration are key to finding the long-term solutions needed in agriculture.

“We know that we have to continue to innovate and continue to bring new products and solutions to farmers,” he says. “Not only in Indiana but to solve some of the global challenges that we have around things like climate change and differing consumer demands for food products. We know that we have to continue to think about that and anticipate what the needs are going to be in the future. And it starts with a strong R&D pipeline.”

Jay Akridge, dean of Purdue’s College of Ag, says the investment will dramatically enhance the college’s capabilities to improve plant sciences and ultimately benefit the farmer.
