The National FFA organization has announced a record-high student membership for 2016, with Ohio and Missouri among the top states.

National FFA says its membership increased to almost 650,000 members this year, up by about 20,000 from 2015.

The number of FFA chapters also grew to more than 7,800, an increase of more than 100 chapters over last year.

FFA Alumni membership also spiked with more than 225,000 members, up from just over 62,000 in 2015. That increase is because of a new FFA policy that makes high school seniors automatically become alumni members when they graduate.
