Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative (SMBSC) announced it has elected Steven J. Domm as the next president of the cooperative.

Nearly two years ago, Kelvin Thompsen announced his plan to transition out in 2016. Domm became president and CEO in June upon Thompsen’s departure.

A native of Wahpeton, N.D., Domm grew up on a small grain and sugar-beet farm.  He earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University.

Domm joined SMBSC from Cooperative Producers Inc. in Hastings, Neb., where he served as president and CEO since the spring of 2015.
