The CEO of Syngenta AG says the company is still on track to complete a takeover by ChemChina by the end of this year.
In a conference call with market analysts, John Ramsay brushed off opposition by some U.S. lawmakers and the possibility that the deal will be blocked by regulators. Ramsay said they intend to have all regulatory approvals completed by the end of the year.
Some of those analysts remain skeptical, however, that the deal can be approved that quickly. They say it could be delayed by regulators including the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS). CFIUS can review foreign takeovers for any security concerns.
