The Florida Sugar Cane League, the Rio Grande Valley Sugar Growers and the Hawaii Sugar Farmers have hired two new firms to lobby for them, Ryan Weston, the Washington executive vice president of all three groups told The Hagstrom Report.

One new hire is the S-3 Group, whose staff includes Rob Collins, the former executive director of the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, John Scofield and Martin Delgado, who are veterans of the House Appropriations Committee and former Senate aides, and Mike Ference, a former House leadership and Senate aide.

The other is Crossroads Strategies, where Hunter Moorhead, a former Republican House, Senate and White House aide will lead the firm's efforts.

The Florida, Texas and Hawaii growers also use the services of Cornerstone Government Affairs and the Macon Edwards Company.

All the lobbyists will “defend and promote U.S. sugar policy,” Weston said in an email from Maui, Hawaii, where he is on hand for the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations.
