The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC, manufacturer of 10% of the nation’s sugar production, is seeking a proven leader to join the Executive Management team and oversee agricultural operations. Amalgamated is headquartered in Boise, Idaho, and is owned by Snake River Sugar Company, an agricultural cooperative.
Qualified applicants for this executive position must have ten (10) or more years of experience in agricultural operations. A Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Agricultural Economics or Agricultural Technology is preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree with extensive experience will be considered.
Primary responsibilities of the Vice President of Agriculture include managing all aspects of the Agricultural Department; supervising the Agricultural Department Managers; planning, developing and implementing agricultural policies and practices to improve sugarbeet quality; preparing and implementing annual operating plans and budgets; overseeing agricultural research; managing the transportation, supply and flow of sugarbeets to three processing facilities; and providing overall leadership in a highly aligned manner to employees and the members of the agricultural cooperative.
This position will also serve as an advisor to various organizations and committees regarding agricultural production, seed research and selection, and grower relations. The Vice President of Agriculture must have strong scientific, business and leadership skills and must be knowledgeable in the fields of biotechnology, fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides and relevant sugarbeet diseases.
