Wilbur-Ellis Company reportedly has announced it is constructing a fertilizer plant in Miller, S.D., with capacity to hold 13,500 ton of dry fertilizer, and 2,000 ton of liquid fertilizer, according to The Daily Plainsman, Huron, S.D., newspaper.
“As we continue our growth in this area and around South Dakota, we focus on keeping up with and investing in our customers’ needs, and that need is to have a regular supply of quality fertilizer delivered in a timely manner,” Matt Christopherson, area manager for Wilbur-Ellis, was quoted as saying.
The blue print for the high-tech facility includes a high speed horizontal blender and high-speed blended product load-out.
Fertilizer transportation and storage are major considerations in providing service to ag retailers’ customers, and this investment will help the company better serve their growing customer base.
For a number of reasons outlined by Christopherson, he noted, “We have seen a tremendous need to increase our fertilizer capacities.”
The fertilizer facility is expected to be completed by January 2015, which would mean it has fertilizer product for spring application of 2015.
