The manufacturer of agricultural machinery AGCO has signed a four-year agreement with Mitas to supply Continental- and Mitas-branded farm tyres to Fendt, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Challenger and Laverda branded tractors and combines for their plants in Germany, Finland, France and Italy starting in 2013.

"This is an extension of an existing agreement," said Andrew Mabin, Mitas' marketing and sales director. Mitas has been supplying Fendt tractors with tyres since 2004, when Mitas acquired the Continental farm tyre manufacturing division.

The contract extension follows a recent award made by AGCO to Mitas. AGCO awarded its highest supplier rating "A" to Mitas for deliveries of farm tyres from January to December 2012. The Mitas-produced Continental is a standard fitment in four out of six model series, for example, Fendt 924-930 Vario. The award pertains to quality, logistics, customer service and protection of the environment, for all of which Mitas received the highest grade. Mitas has received the overall "A" grade annually since 2004.

"Mitas' core business is agricultural and industrial tyres," Mabin said. "This allows Mitas to pay close attention to detail and reliability."

Mitas sales to AGCO increased 10 percent in 2012 compared with 2011.

"In 2012, Mitas achieved sales exceeding all its historic business results," Mabin added. "Mitas' total sales in 2012 were 449 million euros."

AGCO is a global leader focused on the design, manufacture and distribution of agricultural machinery.
