USDA's first look at what farmers will plant for the 2013 crop year comes out at the end of the month.

Hubert Hamer, chair of the NASS Ag Statistics board says right now growers are filling out questionnaires that USDA will use to assemble the 2013 Prospective Plantings report.

"Coming off of the drought year of 2012 - I know there is a lot of anticipation of what producers are planning to do for 2013," he says.  "This survey really sets up the next crop year, so it is very important that we collect that information."

USDA will release its Prospective Plantings report March 28.
