Irrigators and others connected to the North Platte River in western Nebraska have formed a new coalition to represent their interests at the local, state and federal level.

The new non-profit organization, called the North Platte Valley Water Association, includes representatives of the North Platte Valley Irrigators Association and the North Platte Natural Resources District.

The mission of the coalition is to preserve, protect and promote water resources and irrigated agriculture in the North Platte Valley, stretching from the Wyoming-Nebraska line to Lake McConaughy.  The group has hired a lobbying firm in Lincoln to monitor issues and interact with state senators in the Nebraska legislature.
