Leslie MacKay, the Prince Edward Island, Canada, potato grower who illegally transported seed potatoes from Maine, faces a Nov. 21 date in provincial court.

MacKay imported the potatoes last May, after receiving clearance from the Dept. of Agriculture and having them tested. However, he did not receive clearance from two other governing bodies.

He has entered a plea of not guilty and said he intends to fight the matter, based on the Free Trade agreement between the United States and Canada.

Three days have been set aside for the trial before a provincial court judge.
