Ireland's potato crop is projected to be down 10 percent because of a difficult growing season.

Potato Expert Tom Maher said the crop is below the 40,000 acres planted last year. This should result in higher prices for this year's crop.

However, recent hot weather has caused some growers to irrigate their crops. "I can promise that.this season will produce floury potatoes because the dry matter content will be high, Maher stated.
