The USDA NASS has provided an update on the 2025 U.S. sugarbeet crop planting in its weekly crop progress report (https://www.nass.usda.gov/) from this week. Here’s a sample of what the latest report showed. Some states didn’t have their report in by the time we posted this so there is no report yet.

Michigan - Growers in the state have made impressive gains in the past week with 28 percent of the beets in the ground, which is well ahead of the 2 percent a week ago. That is also ahead of last year’s 17 percent but behind the five-year average of 35 percent.

Idaho – Idaho growers are making steady progress in sugarbeet planting with planting standing at 83 percent at the time of the report, well ahead of last year when planting was 36 percent done. The five-year average at 54 percent. The 83 percent on this week’s report also shows a good gain over last week’s 59 percent. The NASS reports 10 percent of the beets have emerged.

Oregon – Across the border in Oregon, 75 percent of the sugarbeet crop has been planted, up from 45 percent a week ago. Last year at this time, 94 percent of Oregon’s beets had been planted with the five-year average at 87 percent. And like Idaho, 10 percent of the crop has emerged.

WyomingThe Cowboy state shows 33 percent of the crop in the ground, well ahead of last week’s 13 percent but right in line with last year’s figure of 35 percent at this time of year. The five-year average is 18 percent.

Minnesota – NASS reports that Minnesota growers have 2 percent of the crop planted.

ColoradoColorado growers have 14 percent of their sugarbeets in the ground, nearly triple last week’s 5 percent. However, last year at this time 27 percent of the crop was in but the 14 percent is still ahead of the five-year average of 10 percent. One percent of the beets that have been planted have emerged.
