President Trump has nominated Steve Censky to be the next deputy secretary of agriculture at the USDA.

Censky has served as the CEO of the American Soybean Association since 1996.

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says Censky’s experience and leadership skills will enhance the efforts of the USDA.

ASA president and Illinois farmer Ron Moore says Censky is the perfect fit for the role and has proven himself as an “effective, dedicated, and visionary voice on behalf of soybean farmers.”

Prior to his tenure at ASA, Censky served at the USDA under both Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush and first came to Washington, D.C., as a legislative aide to then-Sen. Jim Abdnor of South Dakota.

Censky grew up on a soybean, corn, and diversified livestock farm near Jackson, Minn.

The Senate has not announced when it will hold its hearing on Censky’s nomination.
