Brown Rot Threat Scares Ireland

Northern Ireland Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers said the department is taking all possible steps to prevent brown rot from spreading to the province from Scotland.

"Officials have been liasing closely with their counterparts in Dublin over contingency arrangements should the disease appear in the Republic," Rodgers said.

Brown rot was discovered in Scotland two years ago.
