Fresh produce packaging changes has caused the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association along with the Produce Marketing Association to form a joint committee to review concerns.
The committee will serve as a forum to bring better understanding and coordination to the challenges associated with the rapidly changing climate in packaging of fresh produce.
Fred Heptinstall, United chairman-elect of Chiquita Fresh North America, and PMA Secretary-Treasurer Tim York of Markon Cooperative, will co-chair the committee.
The committee consists of a broad-based group from the entire industry, consisting of shippers, retailers, foodservice, wholesalers, and brokers, as well as one representative each from the plastic and corrugated packaging industries.
