Congresswoman Valerie Foushee Recognizes BASF Contributions To STEM Workforce, Sustainability, And Innovation

Research Triangle Park, N.C. — During a site tour on Friday, June 2, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) met with BASF company leaders in Research Triangle Park (RTP) to affirm the company’s longstanding impact on the STEM workforce in North Carolina and beyond. 

“With an eye towards future generations, BASF is leading the way in sustainability and innovation and is building a diverse STEM workforce here in the Fourth District,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04). 
 
BASF Agriculture Solutions has been a part of the Research Triangle Park community since September 1986 and has been involved in federal policy decisions relevant to agriculture for decades. 
 
“I'm very proud of the work that BASF does. North Carolina is the 9th fastest growing state in this country, and we are on the cutting edge of what drives the economy, particularly as it relates to innovation and in agriculture,” said Congresswoman Foushee. (Video link
 
Congresswoman Foushee spoke firsthand with Paul Rea, Senior Vice President of BASF Agricultural Solutions - North America. 
 
“BASF is really excited about the future of agriculture and that future is really going to be dependent on education and that's why this facility here in RTP in North Carolina is so critically important. We have over a thousand people here that are dedicated to discovering new technologies that farmers are going to need in the coming decades so they can farm more sustainably, improve their yields and productivity for everyone, because we all enjoy three meals a day,” said Paul Rea, Senior Vice President of Agricultural Solutions, North America BASF.
