At a small gathering at Amalgamated Sugar’s Nampa, Idaho, factory, employees presented a $2,500 check to the Community Council of Idaho in late April. The presentation is the third time that Nampa has been able to donate to a community organization as part of the President’s Safety Award program.
The Nampa factory recently reached 250,000 hours without a recordable injury and received $2,500 to donate to a charitable organization. A committee of employees at the Nampa factory selected the Community Council of Idaho. Past donation recipients from Nampa factory President’s Safety Awards include Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho and Make-A-Wish Idaho.
“Our employees make safety a priority every day, and it’s part of our culture here at Nampa,” Dave Hawk, Nampa factory Plant Manager, said. “They take pride in accomplishing this safety milestone. The opportunity to make this donation to a cause that impacts so many people within our community makes it even more special.”
The Community Council of Idaho is the largest nonprofit serving Latinos in the state. The purpose of the Community Council of Idaho is to improve local communities’ social and economic status through workforce preparation, education, cultural awareness, civil rights advocacy, and well-being services.
