This update appears in the November/December issue of Sugar Producer.

The motto for ACH Seeds is “Good Things Come from Common Ground.” The company takes pride in that approach. Sales managers and independent sales agents are the boots on the ground and are ready and willing to assist customers in any way possible to help them grow a more profitable sugarbeet crop.

For the 2022 crop year, ACH is offering up to 10 new hybrids pending sugar company approvals, along with good supplies of our field-proven hybrids—all of which will help growers produce more sugar, period. There are unique production challenges throughout the growing areas; there are also unique challenges within one grower’s farm, at times even within a single field. ACH Seeds’ overall portfolio includes nearly 40 varieties available for sale in 2022 pending approvals. ACH has the hybrids available, with the combination of traits needed, to be successful on any sugarbeet farm.

It can take up to 10 years to develop and release a commercially approved hybrid. ACH Seeds we take that responsibility very seriously through collaboration with customers, sugar company representatives and breeders. After the seed is grown, it is processed, treated and packaged in the gold standard of seed processing facilities in Tangent, Ore. This attention to detail and quality assurance means only the highest-quality seed that is ready to perform in growers’ fields will ever be put in boxes labeled with the ACH Seeds logo

ACH Seeds proudly partners with KWS. This relationship offers ACH access to superior genetics and new traits. This access gives sugarbeet growers the opportunity to produce more sugar on every acre by planting Crystal brand beet seed. An example of this opportunity is ACH’s access to the CR+ trait from KWS. ACH Crystal brand varieties with the CR+ trait offer an incredible level of protection from Cercospora (CLS) while simultaneously protecting yields to increase productivity. In 2021, ACH successfully released six new Crystal brand varieties with the CR+ trait into the Great Lakes and Central growing regions. Reports from the field reveal these new varieties are performing as expected and that this innovation is raising the bar for growers. Pending sugar company approvals, ACH will offer even more CR+ varieties into these markets for the 2022 growing season. These varieties provide superior protection from CLS infection with the potential for fewer fungicide applications during the growing season.

On an additional note, as of Oct. 1, 2021, the ACH Seeds Sugar Bounty program is being discontinued. ACH thanks everyone who has participated in the past, helping to drive home the message that ACH Seeds Crystal brand sugarbeet seed produces great sugar yields. Stay tuned to learn more about a new program the company will be sharing over the next year. ACH believes the program, which will be revealed soon, will help local communities where sugarbeets are grown.
