In an effort to provide growers with predictive, real-time field data to help them better manage their time and resources, EarthScout GBC has officially entered the precision agriculture field.

Over the past four years, EarthScout’s founders, along with a team of leading agronomists, precision agriculturalists and technologists worked alongside growers to develop an in-field sensing technology that collects predictive micro-climate and soil data and shares it wirelessly via a mobile app. The technology measures real-time above- and below-ground growing conditions 24 hours a day, providing growers with the information they need to drive higher yields, reduce input costs and enhance land stewardship.

“I was raised on a farm in Minnesota, so I know firsthand the often insurmountable challenges growers have in producing a profitable yield year after year,” says EarthScout CEO Troy Schmidtke. “We created our company and developed EarthScout’s intuitive sensing solutions specifically to help eliminate some of those challenges. Our goal is to arm growers with meaningful in-season crop management data and to empower them to make timely decisions so their plants can reach their full potential.”

“The bottom line is that EarthScout’s sensing technology and IoT platform are enabling growers to make better decisions,” adds EarthScout COO Josh Krenz. “Growing conditions change day to day and often hour to hour, so having insight into their unique soil and air conditions means growers can predict and quickly respond to those changing conditions. With EarthScout, the end result is that growers can positively impact the health and profitability of their crops while reducing costs and conserving natural resources.”

EarthScout currently offers 19 unique and highly durable sensors for outdoor field and indoor greenhouse use that monitor soil moisture, temperature and salinity as well as air temperature, humidity, solar radiation and much more. In addition to providing growers with visibility to real-time and historic trend data related to these metrics, EarthScout also has a team of grow coaches who are plant physiologists, plant pathologists, soil scientists and agronomists who work with growers on how best to gather, analyze and leverage that data.
