The following statement was released by the American Sugar Alliance today regarding the 2021 International Sweetener Symposium:
Dear ASA Members and Sweetener Symposium Attendees:
Due to the continuing global uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Sugar Alliance has canceled its International Sweetener Symposium, scheduled for July 30 – August 4, 2021, at The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa, California.
We were very hopeful our industry would be able to gather at this year’s Symposium. Please know canceling the Symposium has been a difficult decision. However, there is still great uncertainty on our ability to meet in full force and have a safe and productive meeting. We prioritize our members’ safety and well-being, and we believe this is the best course of action during this unprecedented time. Thank you again for your longstanding support of this important event that provides a forum for all stakeholders of the domestic and international sugar, sweetener and food manufacturing industries to come together for an informative program and networking opportunity.
We would like to express our great appreciation to The Meritage Resort & Spa for their assistance with this decision. Understanding the great excitement our membership has expressed about returning to Napa wine country, we are thrilled to announce that ASA will hold its 2023 Symposium at The Meritage Resort & Spa, August 4-9, 2023, when our membership can fully enjoy all that the Resort and Napa Valley have to offer.
Since ASA delayed opening the room block and conference registration until we could determine if the 2021 Symposium could go forward, no further action is needed to cancel hotel reservations or conference registration for this year’s event. Thank you again for your patience as we evaluated all options, and we appreciate your understanding and continued support of the Symposium.
We look forward to when we can again safely meet face-to-face. In the meantime, please mark your calendar for ASA’s 2022 Symposium, scheduled for July 29 – August 3, 2022, at The Westin Seattle in Seattle, Washington, and ASA’s 2023 Symposium, scheduled for August 4 – 9, 2023, at the The Meritage Resort in Napa, California.
