GROWMARK Foundation Announces Scholarship Recipients

Fifteen agriculture students have been selected as the third class of recipients of the GROWMARK Foundation scholarship.

More than 140 students from across the United States and Canada applied for the award. Applications were evaluated by a panel of agribusiness professionals, and the funds are available for the fall 2019 semester.

“We are pleased to provide financial support to these fifteen outstanding students,” said Amy Bradford, GROWMARK Manager, Corporate Communications and Manager of the GROWMARK Foundation. “Their pursuit of higher education in agriculture will position them well to potentially become a part of the GROWMARK System in the future, whether that may be employment at GROWMARK or an FS member cooperative, or as a farmer-owner of their local cooperative.”

Scholarship recipients, in listed in alphabetical order, are:

  • McKenzie Carvalho of Maxwell, Calif. She is the daughter of David and Mary Carvalho and is studying agribusiness and agricultural communications at Oklahoma State University.

  • Conner Christian of Newark, Ill. He is the son of Jeremy and Jill Christian and is studying agriculture education at Joliet Junior College.
     
  • Michelle Cooney of Deer Grove, Ill. She is the daughter of Tom and Joan Cooney and is studying agribusiness and agronomy management at Illinois State University.
     
  • Tyler Ditchfield of Ottawa, Ill. He is the son of Thomas and Tiffany Ditchfield and is studying agricultural engineering at the University of Illinois.
     
  • Shane Douglas of Waterloo, Ill. He is the son of Mike and Laura Douglas and is studying agricultural and consumer economics at the University of Illinois.
     
  • Rebecca Dwyer,of Eureka, Ill. She is the daughter of Pat and Ann Dwyer and is studying agribusiness at Illinois State University.
     
  • Abigayle Endress of Pearl City, Ill. She is the daughter of Brad and Shauna Endress and is studying agricultural leadership education at the University of Illinois.
     
  • Ashley Hagenow of Poynette, Wis. She is the daughter of Robert and Lisa Hagenow and is studying agricultural communications and marketing at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
     
  • Rachel Lokai of Urbana, Ohio. She is the daughter of Brent and Jill Lokai and is studying animal science at the Ohio State University.
     
  • Kendall Lovejoy of Archbold, Ohio. He is studying agribusiness at Grace College and Theological Seminary.
     
  • Abbey Schiefelbein of Kimball, Minn. She is the daughter of Don and Jennifer Schiefelbein and is studying food science and technology at Kansas State University.
     
  • Jenna Straub of Mahomet, Ill. She is the daughter of Tim and Tammy Straub and is studying agribusiness at Murray State University.
     
  • Lynne Thomas of Fallston, Md. She is the daughter of Charles and Anita Thomas and is studying agricultural and extension education at West Virginia University.
     
  • Collin Weltzien of Arcadia, Wis. He is the son of Keith and Karen Weltzien and is studying agribusiness at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls.
     
  • Courtney Wiedenmann of Coal Valley, Ill. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Barbara Wiedenmann and is studying agricultural education at Oklahoma State University.
