Pocatello, Idaho – For the past three years, Savage, a global provider of supply chain infrastructure and solutions, has been operating Idaho’s first and only intermodal rail terminal in Pocatello. Savage Railport – Southern Idaho provides southern Idaho and northern Utah agriculture producers with closer access to rail so they can ship containerized products to Northwest seaports and connect to global markets more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Now, Savage is expanding its operations in Pocatello, with the acquisition of the nearby Idaho Rail Shop business and property.

“We’re excited to grow our operations in Pocatello by adding railcar repair capabilities and developing a new multi-commodity transload terminal,” said Jason Ray, President of Savage’s Infrastructure Sector. “This will strengthen the growing Savage Transload Network of rail terminals across North America, and provide a more efficient supply chain for moving products and materials through Southern Idaho and the region. We’re also pleased to welcome seven new team members to Savage.”

Established in 1997, Idaho Rail Shop has built a rich legacy by providing high-quality railcar repair services for Idaho businesses. Strategically positioned near the existing Savage intermodal railport, Idaho Rail Shop provides an ideal location for transloading materials, including dry- and liquid-bulk commodities and dimensional freight, between rail cars and trucks. Both the existing intermodal railport and new transload terminal connect to the Union Pacific Railroad.
