Sugarbeets Heading Down The Home Stretch Across U.S.

The USDA NASS has provided an update on the U.S. sugarbeet crop in its weekly crop progress report (https://www.nass.usda.gov/). Here’s a sample of what the latest report showed.

North Dakota – Only 1 percent of the sugarbeet crop in the state is rated as “very poor.” Another 12 percent is rated as poor with 29 percent rated as fair. Another 50 percent is rated good and 8 percent as excellent.

About 2 percent of the sugarbeet crop has been harvested, near the 1 percent average for this time of the year.

ColoradoNone of Colorado’s sugarbeet crop has been rated as very poor and just 1 percent is rated as poor, the same as the previous week. Thirty-three percent of the crop is rated as fair, an increase from 26 percent the week before. Forty-nine percent is in the good category, down from 56 percent a week ago. Seventeen percent of the sugarbeets are rated as excellent, the same as what was reported last week.

Wyoming – Wyoming has, according to NASS reports, has one of the best sugarbeet reports from this past week as 79 percent of the crop is rated as good, although that is down from 88 percent the week before. But none of the state’s crop is rated as very poor or poor. Twenty-one percent is rated as fair, up from 12 percent the week prior.

Michigan -  None of the state’s sugarbeet crop was rated as very poor this past week but 9 percent was rated as poor. Forty percent was rated as fair and another 45 percent as good. Six percent of the crop has been rated as excellent.

MinnesotaMinnesota is another state with a good sugarbeet crop report from last week with 53 percent rated as excellent and another 37 percent as good. Five percent was rated as fair and another 5 percent as poor but none as very poor.
