Sugarbeet Crop Update From Across U.S.

The USDA NASS has provided an update on the U.S. sugarbeet crop in its weekly crop progress report (https://www.nass.usda.gov/) from last week. Here’s a sample of what the latest report showed.

North Dakota – This week’s report is similar to last week’s in that only 1 percent of the sugarbeet crop in the state is rated as “very poor.” Another 10 percent is rated as poor with 30 percent rated as fair. Another 51 percent is rated good and 8 percent as excellent.

About 4 percent of the sugarbeet crop has been harvested, near the 3 percent average for this time of the year.

ColoradoNone of Colorado’s sugarbeet crop has been rated as very poor and just 1 percent is rated as poor, the same as the previous week. Twenty-eight percent of the crop is rated as fair, a decrease from 33 percent the week before. Fifty-four percent is in the good category, up from 49 percent a week ago. Seventeen percent of the sugarbeets are rated as excellent, the same as what was reported last week.

WyomingWyoming has, according to NASS reports, again has one of the best sugarbeet reports from this past week as 88 percent of the crop is rated as good, up from 79 percent the week before. But none of the state’s crop is rated as very poor or poor. Twelve percent is rated as fair, down from 21 percent the week prior.

Michigan -  None of the state’s sugarbeet crop was rated as very poor this past week but 11 percent was rated as poor. Forty-nine percent was rated as fair and another 40 percent as good. None of the crop has been rated as excellent, down from 6 percent last week.

MinnesotaMinnesota is another state with a good sugarbeet crop report from last week with 60 percent (up from 53 percent a week ago) rated as excellent and another 33 percent as good. Five percent was rated as fair and another 2 percent as poor but none as very poor.
