USDA-ARS Partnership Leads To Low-GI Sweetener

USDA researchers with the Agricultural Research Service have partnered with industry to develop a low-glycemic sweetener, a benefit for diabetics and crop farmers. Sucromalt is part sucrose from beet or cane sugar, and part maltose from corn sugar. Researchers believe this could open up a new market for both sugar and corn producers.
