A research team has calculated the cost of corn and soybean losses if there were NO herbicides or other weed management tools…and that loss is big.

The Weed Science Society of America team said in the U.S. and Canada, about half of both crops would be lost to uncontrolled weeds and that would cost growers $43-Billion a year.

The U.S. ranks first in the world for both soybean and corn production. Canada ranks seventh for soybeans and 11th for corn, worldwide.

The team says their study underscores the problem of weed resistance in crops and the need for effective weed management tools.
