Agronomist Chosen to Lead Agri-Knowledge Division

Agri-Trend Inc. has named Tim Eyrich as the director of business development of its new Agri-Knowledge Division, which is dedicated to improving knowledge transfer between the scientific community, industry and growers.

The launch of Agri-Knowledge completes Agri-Trend’s full-service model, making it the only company to provide growers with agricultural coaching, knowledge transfer and a farm-data platform in one complete system. Agri-Trend Inc. is an independent agricultural coaching company that works with more than 2,000 farms in North America.

In his new role, Eyrich will enhance Agri-Trend’s training, research and grower support services as well as facilitate technology integration from industry to farm level.

“What’s needed is a strong conduit to bring science down to the common denominator, the farmer,” said Eyrich, former senior manager of product development for plant nutrition and yield enhancement at WinField Solutions, a division of Land o’ Lakes, the second largest agricultural co-operative in the U.S. “The other issue is that the science around farming has been compartmentalized—soils, moisture, plant physiology, insects—and very few people can put the components together and help the farmer make it work.”

With today’s advances in seed genetics, growers cannot afford to think in silos.

“The genetics now are incredible,” Eyrich said. “They’ll help you perform so much better if you do understand how the whole system works together, and punish you so much more if you don’t.”

ICON Introduces New, Larger AG-13 Scraper

Once again, ICON Industries has made high-capacity earthmoving available to the agricultural market—this time in an even larger size.

“Like the AG-11, which was introduced three years ago, the new AG-13 is ideal for the producer whose needs exceed that of box scraper or carryall, but are below that of an industrial scraper,” said Jamie Meier, ag manager for Landoll Corporation. “However, with a heaped capacity of 13 yards, the AG-13 provides additional capacity to move even more material in a short amount of time. Like the AG-11, and many of the ICON industrial models, the AG-13 features ICON’s patented Swing Wall that ensures smooth, clean and rapid ejection cycles.”

The front gate and eject wall are also finished in dirt-resisting epoxy to maintain efficiency in the stickiest of soils. Meanwhile, the double-wall frame sidewall design increases overall strength and rigidity, while protecting hydraulics.

The AG-13 is also like the AG-11 in that it utilizes a front dolly that not only improves maneuverability via 50 degrees of horizontal movement and 70 degrees of lateral movement, but helps support the load, allowing the use of an average-sized ag tractor.

T-L Irrigation Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Since founding T-L Irrigation Company 60 years ago in Hastings, Neb., LeRoy W. Thom has consistently guided the company under the philosophy that “We’re farmers,” emphasizing that T-L’s manufacturing and marketing decisions are deeply influenced by how a grower would view T-L’s exclusive hydrostatically powered irrigation systems to produce income.

T-L Irrigation Company is the only pivot irrigation system manufacturer to use hydrostatic drive rather than electric power.

Although unique to the industry, the hydrostatic design made sense. All growers are familiar with hydraulics since it’s used in every machine they operate. The simplicity of design allows growers to enjoy exceptional reliability and low maintenance. T-L’s irrigation systems also move continuously, delivering even water distribution, which conserves water and enhances crop production. Additionally, there are the benefits of safety due to the absence of high voltage electricity, drastically reduced chances of copper theft, and the elimination of high repair costs and parts replacement.

Today, T-L center pivots, linear irrigation systems and GPS corner systems are represented by more than 300 dealers in over 70 countries worldwide.

Product Helps Pivot Owners

Net Irrigate, a manufacturer of wireless agricultural irrigation monitoring (WAIM) technology, announces WireRat 4.0, an update to its WireRat technology that offers pivot owners new benefits like the ability to self-test the system and increased battery performance.

Since its release in 2011, WireRat technology has become the agriculture industry’s bestselling alarm solution for copper theft on center pivot irrigation systems and other agriculture equipment.

WireRat technology offers each grower the ability to better protect the valuable copper wire on their pivot irrigation systems and other equipment by immediately sending alerts to his phone when a span cable is cut. The technology works seamlessly with all brands of center pivots and requires no external power. New for the WireRat 4.0 is the ability to self-test by simulating span cable cuts without causing any damage to your equipment. Every month the system auto-tests the copper wire, ensuring the alarm is not compromised during the off season.

WireRat 4.0 also includes increased battery performance, with a battery pack design that can last up to seven years with average pivot usage.
