"Sugar gets a bad rap."

This was the most frequent comment The Sugar Association received from conference attendees to our booth at the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Annual Meeting, held in Orlando last month.

AADE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition attracts more than 3,000 health professionals who share a passion for promoting diabetes self-management to their patients: how to accurately monitor blood glucose levels, engage in exercise, adopt healthy eating habits and cope with specific diabetes emotional and physical challenges. Self-management education also includes helping patients select products that best manage their diabetes.

Materials visitors expressed particular interest in included The Sugar Association’s fact sheets on sugar's glycemic index, sugar’s role in making healthy foods palatable and what the science says about sugar.

Attendees also noted that they struggle with encouraging their patients to eat balanced meals, particularly breakfast.

The AADE conference is one of several events at which The Sugar Association exhibits each year. But you don’t have to attend one of these events to access our educational publications. These materials are only a few mouse clicks away at www.sugar.org/publications. Here you will find a wide variety of resources for parents and kids, educators, health professionals and any person looking to learn more about all natural sugar. Our publications provide all types of information about sugar, nutrition and health, many including fun and educational activities for all age groups.
