Arysta LifeScience announced full approval for Clethodim in Europe and removal of the restriction for use on sugar beets only. The implementing regulation amending the condition of approval of Clethodim was adopted during the December 9 meeting of the Standing Committee on Food Chain and Animal Health in Brussels. Removal of the restriction means that all uses of Clethodim, registered on 30 November 2011, can continue.

As soon as the decision for a restricted approval was taken in January 2011, Arysta LifeScience submitted a supplementary dossier, containing new data, to re-confirm the safety of Clethodim and to allow for a decision to lift the restrictions in the Clethodim approval.

Clethodim herbicide is currently registered in 15 of 27 EU countries where the main crops are sugarbeet, oil seed rape, sunflower and potato. Over the last decade Arysta LifeScience has also developed its Clethodim products on many minor crops.
