A student from China, Jianlin Yu, arrived in Kimberly, Idaho several weeks prior to the field tour and has begun his research into organic weed control in dry beans. When he completes his education in a few years he will go back to China with his Ph.D. and then work and continue research in weed control in crops to help the farmers in China. Yu explains the biggest challenge is the language. Communication is the most important thing to reckon with as a foreigner with the intention of learning in-depth scientific research.

“I chose the University of Idaho because it is a great opportunity,” said Yu. “The professors are great… I have enjoyed working with them so far.” It will be a great accomplishment for Jianlin Yu as well as the university to share the knowledge and teach the tools needed to bring the farmers in China up to speed on agriculture production methods.
