The sugar factory in Fort Morgan opened in 1906 where community members say it is the foundation of today's Morgan County. The sugar industry played a major role in the making of Northeastern Colorado. President and CEO of Western Sugar Co-op, Inder Mathur, said the current owners of Western Sugar, the growers, have made this 100 celebration possible.
