After a great deal of discussion, the National Potato Council agreed not to raise grower assessment fees for the operation of the NPC.

Coming at the group's annual summer meeting held in Bellingham, WA, the Council did not take action on a Finance Committee recommendation made in February to increase the assessment 25 cents per 1000 cwt and then up to 50 cents per 1000.

However, it was agreed the Council would keep reserve funds at one-third of the annual budget. The assessment matter will be brought up again at the annual meeting to be held in San Antonio, TX, Jan. 8-12.
