Guenthner Leads Potato Association

Joe Guenthner, University of Idaho professor of agricultural economics, will serve as the Potato Association of America president until the Toronto meeting in August 2002.

Guenthner is the fifth University of Idaho faculty member to serve in the post. Others include Stephen Love, professor of potato breeding, in 1999; Dennis Corsini, an affiliate professor of plant pathology and a USDA researcher, in 1995; Joe Pavek, a former affiliate professor and USDA researcher, in 1988; and Walter Sparks, research professor emeritus of horticulture, 1965.

Guenthner joined the UI faculty in 1980 and holds a split appointment in teaching, research and education.

The PAA is the official professional society for those interested in advancing the potato industry.
