A Northern Ireland exporter, P.F. McKendry, recently shipped 1,350 tons of seed potatoes to Casablanca, Morocco.

It was a new outlet for the exporter who described the shipment of Nicola and Desiree seed as a positive development for Northern Ireland's seed potato sector.

"Despite all the doom and gloom reported about the Northern Ireland seed potato industry, I believe the future is much brighter than for any other sector of agriculture," he said.

"We have a top-class product, the best climatic conditions for growing potatoes in Europe, and dedicated growers," he said.
