A recently completed analysis by the USDA's Economic Research Service shows that China's participation in the World Trade Organization could result in export gains of up to $1.6 billion.

The ERS has penciled out figures that show exports of grains, oilseeds and related products, and cotton would result in the $1.6 billion figure up to 2005.

ERS says additional gains would result from significantly greater market access to other products such as vegetables, pork, beef, poultry, citrus, other fruits, tree nuts, and forest and fish products.

This could increase net U.S. farm income by $1.7 billion more than baseline projections in 2005.
