Wisconsin U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin has been appointed to serve on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
The committee oversees energy production, innovation and technology issues through the U.S. Departments of Energy and Interior, while also holding responsibility for stewardship of public lands and forests managed by Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service.
“Global climate change is real, its impact can be seen on agriculture, biodiversity, rising sea levels, and extreme weather," Baldwin said. "The question is not whether climate change is occurring, but how our nation is going to respond to it.”
Baldwin will continue to serve on the Senate Budget Committee; the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee; the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and the Senate Special Committee on Aging.
In the House of Representatives Baldwin served on the Energy and Commerce Committee from 2005 to 2013 when she was elected to the Senate.
