The Agricultural Business and Technology Institute of Hartnell College will host the 14th annual Western Food Safety Summit on May 1-2, culminating a year when food safety has been at the forefront of agricultural industry discussions.

The event will convene in the Mainstage Theater (Building K) on Hartnell’s Main Campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both May 1-2. The college is located in Salinas at 411 Central Ave., Salinas, Calif.

Industry leaders will explore this year’s theme, “Creating a Sustainable Food Safety Culture,” through dynamic presentations on such topics as “Ag and Water,” “Romaine Outreach and Programs Based on Science,” “Today’s Environmental Assessment,” “Block Chain and Traceability,” “FDA Visit 101” and “Minimizing Liability: Sanitary Design of Packing Equipment,” in addition to panel discussions on “Legal Issues in Food Safety” and “Education and Workforce Development in Food Safety.”

The Western Food Safety Summit draws all levels of the agricultural workforce and support services to California’s Central Coast for a day of intensive training on the most current issues and concerns for fresh fruits and vegetables. The expanded two-day format will also provide plenty of opportunities for networking.

Tickets are on sale now, and there is an early-bird offering at $250 per person if you register by Feb. 1. After Feb. 1, the fee is $295. We also offer an early-bird student rate of $40.
