Area agriculture producers, processors and industry businesses rose to the challenge and set a new event record by raising over $91,000 to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Northwest (RMHC) at the 5th Annual Ag World Golf Classic on June 13 in KennewickWashington. Through the generosity of 105 sponsors and donors and 144 golfers, this year’s event was an undisputed success.

The Ag World Golf Classic has donated more than $325,000 over the past five years to RMHC. The tournament is part of Ag World Support Systems’ campaign to make a difference in the community by supporting Ronald McDonald House’s mission to strengthen local families and promote children’s health. Ag World was joined by co-hosts Simplot, Lamb Weston, McCain Foods and Potato Growers of Washington in making this event possible.

The tournament format was the same as in years past, with an 18-hole scramble that included great food and fun with barbecues along the course, all generously provided by hole hosts: Lydig Construction, McCurley Business Elite, Suberizer Inc., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Ronald McDonald House Charities Inland Northwest and Washington Ag Network.

This year, to encourage golfers to give generously, the Ag World Golf Classic partnered with RMHC to provide a raffle. Prizes included four box seat tickets to a Washington State University football game donated by Zimmatic by Lindsay, a signed football from the Seattle Seahawks, rounds of golf, and overnight hotel accommodations, to name a few.

“Throughout the past 30-plus years, the Ag World Golf Classic is the most significant community fundraiser we have ever seen,” said Mike Forness, executive director of RMHC in SpokaneWash. “This year’s support from the Ag World Golf Classic will provide over 2,400 nights of lodging for families with ill children in a home-like setting. We could not do this without great partners like Ag World.”

“What an exciting day for all who participated in this fun filled event!” said Ag World founder Warren Henninger. “We are humbled by the ongoing generosity of golfers, sponsors, donors and hosts. We are also grateful for organizations like the Ronald McDonald House Charities who serve our communities in such an incredible way. Ag World is honored to support such a worthy cause.”

The 2019 event is set for June 12, 2019, at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.
