The planting of sugarbeets in North Dakota was 19 percent above the five-year average, the most recent USDA crop progress report shows.

North Dakota had 90 percent of its sugarbeets planted for the week ending May 13, compared with 71 percent for the five-year average and up from 66 percent from the week ended May 6.

Michigan sugarbeet planting was 92 percent complete, up from 80 percent, and higher than the five-year average of 85 percent.

Idaho was 97 percent complete, up from 92 percent. Planting in Minnesota was 73 percent complete, up from 50 percent the previous week, but below the five-year average of 74 percent.

Across the four states, sugarbeets were 84 percent planted, up from 66 percent the previous week and 78 percent for the five-year average.
