The House Republican budget proposal calls for $10 billion in spending cuts to ag programs in the next 10 years.

It recommends curtailing spending on the SNAP nutrition program through state flexibility, but no details are provided. The $10 billion cut is much less than the initial proposal of cutting $70 billion from agriculture.

House Ag Committee Ranking member Collin Peterson issued a statement saying “singling out the SNAP program will kill the farm bill.”
