Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co.’s 36,000-acre plantation on Maui, which closed in December and effectively ended the era of the sugar industry in Hawaii, is auctioning off its equipment and items, Pacific Business News has learned.

Great American Group, on behalf of the Alexander & Baldwin Inc. subsidiary, is holding a live online and on-site auction from Jan. 18-19, starting at 10 a.m. each day.

The Puunene plantation’s co-generation power plant, packing equipment, boiling house, crushing plant, food grade processing and spare parts are all up for grabs.

HC&S had a daily milling capacity of 7,200 tons of sugarcane producing 1,200 tons of raw sugar.

Featured items on the auction block include excavators, backhoes, front-end loaders, farm tractors, ATVs, dump trucks, articulated wagons, dozers, Ford and Toyota trucks.

The live webcast auction on Wednesday, Jan. 18 and Thursday, Jan. 19 will begin at 10:00 AM (HST) and live and online bidding will be held each day.
