The American Sugarbeet Growers Association announced the addition of Scott Herndon to the new role of director of biotechnology and regulatory affairs, effective Jan. 1.

Herndon will execute all aspects of biotechnology and regulatory issues for U.S. sugarbeet growers. He brings vast experience in agricultural issues from both a business and a policy perspective.

“Scott will serve as ASGA’s lead representative for biotechnology and regulatory issues,” said Luther Markwart, ASGA executive vice president.

“We’re thrilled to have Scott on board to work on these important issues for our farmers,” said Galen Lee, ASGA president, who farms near New Plymouth, Idaho.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the ASGA” Herndon said. “Having grown up working in my family’s orange juice production business, I know first hand the difficulties faced by farmers on a daily basis. It is an honor to be given the opportunity to represent thousands of family farmers in this newly created role.”
