More than 130 food and ag industry organizations have sent a letter to President Trump saying they want a seat at the table as the administration renegotiates the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The letter states productivity in U.S. ag is growing faster than domestic demand and rural communities in the United States rely heavily on export markets to sustain prices and revenues.

Ohio AgriBusiness Association President & CEO Chris Henney says they signed the letter to encourage Trump to build on the successes of NAFTA.

“Agricultural exports to Canada and Mexico have more than quadrupled in the last 22 years from $8.9 billion to $38.6 billion. It’s important we don’t lose those key markets while supporting the president and ensuring that all of America is benefiting from these trade agreements."
