American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says that the more people know about the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, the more they will support it.

Duvall cites a survey from DC polling firm Morning Consult showing that 57 percent of registered voters favor free trade.

The poll, taken this month, says half of voters would be more likely to support the agreement if they knew it would provide new overseas markets for U.S. farm products. Slightly more than half of the respondents say they’d favor the agreement after being told that it would result in higher farm income, more agriculture exports and more jobs.

Further, the poll indicates that 69 percent of voters support trade policies that open new markets for U.S. products and U.S. farmers, while less than one in 10 oppose such policies.
