Monsanto reportedly has been in talks with both BASF and Bayer regarding possible acquisitions and partnerships to bolster its ag chemicals business.
According to a Bloomberg report, Monsanto has approached BASF about buying its crop-science business or forming partnerships, but no agreement was reached. Bloomberg also reports that Monsanto and Bayer representatives are holding “ongoing discussions” about the acquisition of Bayer’s crop-science business. Bayer is the second-biggest player in crop chemicals behind Syngenta.
Representatives for Monsanto, Bayer and BASF declined to comment.
