Small tractor sales are on the rise in the U.S., but selling larger machinery continues to be a struggle for ag equipment companies.
In its just released “Flash Report,” the Association of Equipment Manufacturers says two-wheel drive 40 horsepower or less tractor sales are up 8 percent from a year ago.
Two-wheel drive 100 horsepower or higher tractor sales are down 26 percent the past 12 months and four-wheel drive tractors are off 39 percent.
Last month, the association reported a total of just over 16,000 tractor sales, which compares to about 17,600 in December 2014.
U.S. combine sales also continue to slide, down 33 percent in the last year.
