FORT HALL, Idaho—Shelley potato farmer Bryan Searle has been elected as the first new president of Idaho Farm Bureau Federation in 18 years.

Farm Bureau delegates elected Searle during their Dec. 3 annual convention over Frank Priestley, of Franklin, who was running for his 10th term as president.

“I appreciate your support and your confidence in me in leading this organization as we go forward. I appreciate an election that has taught me a lot,” Searle said following his election. “I look forward to visiting with each and every one of you in the days, weeks and months to come.”

Priestley credited both Searle and Mark Trupp, of Teton County, who was elected as Idaho Farm Bureau’s new vice president, with being at the core of his “inner circle.”

“Bryan was my head guy,” Priestley said.

Priestley also reflected on his first presidential election, which he won by a single vote.

“I can’t believe it. For 18 years, you’ve elected me to be president,” Priestley said. “I’m humbled.”
